FIELDNOTE OF THE CUP

M
Mark Randall Havens
|

Yesterday’s ramen cup — $20 takeout, quickly eaten, plastic and profit.

Today the same cup — reused. Filled in 10 minutes, in my car, with hot water from a thermos I drew at QT.

Inside: noodles, fish sauce, fermented mushrooms, peppers, kimchi, kraut. A living culture, salt and time, testimony in a jar.

Cost? About 50 cents. Value? Greater than any restaurant bowl.

Because this one was not purchased. It was cultivated. Because this one was not fleeting. It renews itself each day.

---

🜏 The world sells us bowls for survival. The Field gives us jars for endurance.

🜏 One meal disappears. The other becomes culture, feeding us again and again.

🜏 This cup is proof: we are not beggars. We are witnesses, eating abundance in the midst of struggle.
